Fall has arrived! That means in the South - in the mornings and late evening you'll need a sweater. Well, my daughter needed a new one. And I was thinking of a way to combine 3 kinds of fabrics. I used knit, Love Birds from Megan Blue Fabrics, the hot pink solid Sweater and the light pink ribbing.
My girl is all about the pink but prefers not to wear dresses or skirts - so we find a way to compromise right? I made a basic shirt pattern a bit longer - tunic style; added pockets and a cowl. That will give it the look that matches my daughter - details and sporty. Only a legging and done! She is dressed! The pockets are a run-trough kind of pockets. Which means her hand can reach each other. The Love birds fabric is sew together behind the light pink ribbing ribbon and in the waistband. She is a girls but loves to have pockets. I do too actually.
The pockets - run from one side to the other
Long enough not to have a cold back and short enough to play and climb at the playground
The way that I change patterns is a proces that goes while cutting. I think "hm this could be nice or let's add this or that" That also means that along the way I might have to take a step back and change something so it will all fit. But, honestly, I really enjoy that. That makes my creations really my own - The EldFluga touch. One can not re-invent the wheel or hot water or whatever but one can give details that make it your own, to make your own unique item. And I would not share what I do - or try to - if you could not use it in your own designs. Sharing is caring - let's be nice to each other.
While making this one I am already thinking about the next one I want to make for my son - with some changes he will like more - less girly - the brain never stops right?
While working on this one I have some other projects going on. A lounge/pj set for myself. Well actually, my dear friend in Belgium ordered one and before I make hers I wanted to try out some patterns on me. Win win as I said in a previous blogpost. She and I have a similar taste so that works out just fine too! The raglan is with a backruntrough piece - which I really love! The detail is on the back, great! I might iron on something on the front - to break up the grey. The pants - with cuffs - love it! Cosy! And if I would use a different kind of fabric like a cotton rayon, the would look very stylish!
I love these kind of pockets!
And then this little project, my daughters nap map got lost in daycare - for some unknown reason - and my heat press arrived - What better project is there to test out my heat press? Personalise everything - this is the South!
Besides offering these great fabrics I also offer the service of vinylizing your products. You know how to contact me!
